It doesn’t get much better than White Sands National Park at dusk.  I am just back from a several day photography shoot at the park, and already can’t wait to go back. I will never forget the peacefulness and changing light and colors.  Here, a yucca plant sits isolated among the rippled sand dunes.

Photography Tips

It might seem silly to even say this, but don’t forget to shoot vertical.  Many people and photographers get in the habit of shooting just horizontally, but it is worth it to change your camera to vertical and see how the scene in front of you changes.  You just might like what you see.

Also, when shooting with a wide angle lens, place something interesting in the foreground. Here I am using a yucca plant for my foreground. Otherwise, there can be too much empty space and the image may be lacking a focal point.
